Nora Graham Honea: Legendary Ladies Spotlight

In 2022, I completed a portrait project called Legendary Ladies which was all about celebrating women over 40. As I’ve started a new project, This is Me, I’ve been thinking back on the sessions from my first portrait project in my studio in Cisco, TX.

Over the next several weeks, I’ll be featuring each participant of the Legendary Ladies project on my blog. Follow along as I share these amazing women’s stories.

Today is all about Nora Graham Honea. I first met Nora at my previous workplace. We worked together for several years, and it’s safe to say that Nora was the life of the party. She was always so fun to be around and such a caring woman.

We actually filmed a commercial for KTAB during her shoot, so not only was she out of her comfort zone in front of the camera, but she had someone filming behind the scenes for television. She nailed it though!

I photographed Nora in three outfits. When I looked at the clothes rack and saw this white studded jacket (pictured above), I knew we had to use it! I feel like this outfit really helps her rockstar personality shine through.

She also wanted to show off some of her amazing turquoise jewelry, and this photo does just that. It also gives you a glimpse at her sweeter side. Nora said one of her favorite sayings is “you are someone’s blessing”.

Get to Know Nora

“I've been living in Cisco, Texas for almost 20 years, before that I lived in Long Beach, California. I sing in the choir at my church and just retired from working. I plan on enjoying time with my grandchildren and my grown children too!”

How did your view on life change after turning 40?

“It really didn't change till I turned 70 and realized that time is getting shorter and I am getting slower. Haha”

What is one of the most rewarding things about aging?

“You don't let things bother you as much and other people's opinion of you.”

Here’s what Nora had to say about her experience with us:

Throughly enjoyed having my hair and makeup done for my shoot, felt so comfortable getting directions and posing for photos, they came out better than I imagined! Everyone that has seen my photos tell me what great work Tyler does with his photography! I absolutely agree! 💯”

Below is the Chamber of Commerce commercial that was recorded during Nora’s photoshoot. I had the pleasure of sharing it with The Balm Massage Therapy.

My new portrait project: This is Me, is accepting clients. This project is not age based, but is designed for women at all stages of their adult life to step into their highest self confidence. If you’re interested in learning more about the project, click here.
