Patsy Copeland: Legendary Ladies Spotlight

In 2022, I completed a portrait project called Legendary Ladies which was all about celebrating women over 40. As I’ve started a new project, This is Me, I’ve been thinking back on the sessions from my first portrait project at my studio in Cisco, TX.

Over the next several weeks, I’ll be featuring each participant of the Legendary Ladies project on my blog. Follow along as I share these amazing women’s stories.

Today is all about Patsy! We had her portrait session for the Legendary Ladies project in October, then she came back for a branding shoot with her husband a few months later. They own Charles & Patsy Electrical.

Patsy is also a heath coach and is always sharing her positive energy. It’s obvious that she loves her family (especially her grandkids). Let’s jump into her interview.

Get to Know Patsy

Patsy attended Cisco schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. She graduated in 1990. She married right out of high school and had two beautiful daughters with her first husband. She divorced after 14 years and then met her forever husband when she was 34 years old. She married Charles 9 years later, on Halloween, when she was 43 years old.

Patsy had a stroke in 2012, but fortunately her story didn’t end there.

She lost 110 pounds in 2016. She has been a health and wellness coach since that time. She became a Nana with her first grandchild in 2016 (her only granddaughter as of now).

She started running in 2017 and ran her first official 5K mud run that year. She ran her first full marathon in 2019 exactly 7 years to the day after her stroke.

Patsy’s first grandson was born in 2018, with 2 other grandsons born in 2020 and 2021.

What advice would you give your younger self?

“The main thing I would tell my younger self would be to take better care of myself. Eat healthier, and stay active.”

How did your view on life change after turning 40?

“Having a stroke a month after turning 40, my outlook on life wasn’t great! At 44 I found my passion for life again after getting myself healthy and at 50, I say bring on the next 50!”

What is one of the most rewarding things about aging?

“Grand babies! I absolutely love being a Nana and feel it’s what I was born for!”

Here’s what Patsy had to say about her experience with us:

“The whole experience was amazing! Never felt uncomfortable or intimidated throughout the photo shoot!

Upon arrival, I was first treated with hair style and makeup, by Roz, which made me feel especially glamorous! I had never felt more beautiful ! Then we began the photoshoot with one outfit after another. There was a lot of laughter during the shoot! It was so much fun, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Never felt odd or out of place.

I’ve probably went through my box a dozen more times since I’ve gotten them! Absolutely loved the whole experience, and I cannot say enough good things about my day! I just recommend you schedule your day and go see Tyler! You will not regret it!”

My new portrait project: This is Me, is accepting clients. This project is not age based, but is designed for women at all stages of their adult life to step into their highest self confidence. If you’re interested in learning more about the project, click here.
