Where to Find the Perfect Outfits for Your Photoshoot

Does the thought of choosing wardrobe for your photoshoot stress you out?

First off, you’re not going to be alone in this process. We will have a styling consultation before your session to help guide you on what to wear and how to prepare.

Here are some fantastic tips for acquiring outfits for your photoshoot.

Your Own Closet

I always encourage my clients to look in their own closets first. Odds are, you already have outfits that are your style and you love. Maybe you have a dress in the back that you never get to wear - this is your chance. You probably have some more casual outfits that will work perfectly too.

Borrow Clothes from Friends

Don’t overlook your own network when searching for the perfect outfit. You likely have friends with amazing style who would be happy to lend you a piece or two. Reach out and ask if they have anything that might suit your photoshoot goals. This is a wonderful way to get unique pieces and even share styling tips. Plus, it adds a personal touch to your outfit knowing it came from a friend.

Go Thrifting for Your Session

Thrifting is an excellent way to find unique and affordable clothing for your photoshoot. Upscale resale stores often have high-quality, gently used pieces at a fraction of the original cost. Look for items that are in good condition and fit well. Sometimes, a little makeshift tailoring in the studio can make a thrifted item look like it was made just for you. Thrift stores also offer a chance to find vintage and one-of-a-kind pieces that can add character and charm to your photoshoot.

Rent Your Photoshoot Outfit

One of the most convenient ways to get a stunning outfit for your photoshoot is by renting it. Services like Rent the Runway offer a wide variety of stylish and high-quality pieces that you can rent for a fraction of the cost of purchasing new. This option allows you to wear designer clothes and standout pieces without the full hefty price tag.

Buying New Clothes

If you feel that purchasing new clothes is your only option, you can do that too! As a full service photographer, I'm always here to help you choose the best pieces for your photoshoot. I’ve had clients send me photos while they’re in stores for my opinion of what will photograph best, and I’m always happy to help. Sometimes, investing in a few new items that you know will make you feel confident and look great can be so worth it.

Finding the perfect outfit for your photoshoot doesn’t have to be stressful. Whether you choose to rent, borrow, thrift, or buy, there are plenty of options available to suit your style and situation. Remember, the key is to feel comfortable and confident in whatever you wear, as this will shine through in your photos.
