Tina Bingham: Legendary Ladies Spotlight

In 2022, I completed a portrait project called Legendary Ladies which was all about celebrating women over 40. As I’ve started a new project, This is Me, I’ve been thinking back on the sessions from my first portrait project at my studio in Cisco, TX.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be featuring each participant of the Legendary Ladies project on my blog. Follow along as I share these amazing women’s stories.

Today we’re spotlighting Tina. I loved getting to know Tina. Her personality is so sweet and caring. She’s been in the nursing field for a lot of her life which I think suits her so well. Let’s jump into her story!

Get to Know Tina

“I have worked in the nursing field for almost 45 years, first as an aid back when certification wasn’t required and then as a LVN since 1986. I have worked in many areas in nursing with my current position as hospice nurse. I have been married to my wonderful husband Jerry for 30 years and we have 4 wonderful children and 4 grandchildren. Rebecca is 38 and lives in Amarillo with her 15 year old son, Landon. Her younger son lives in Calhoun KY with his dad. Kimberly and her husband Trevor are 33 and live in Vidor TX with their daughters, Karly, 8 and Karaline, 6. Trevor is an engineer for Dow and Kimberly works for Vidor ISD as a paraprofessional. Our sons live at home. Justin is 26 and works in the deli at Shoppin’ Baskit in DeLeon. Jonathan, our youngest, has learning disabilities and assists his Dad on the ranch where we raise beef cattle. Jerry has been a farmer/rancher for his entire adult life. We have 1200 acres of ranch land. I am 6th generation Texan, my family came to Texas from Mississippi after the Civil War.”

What advice would you give your younger self?

“Follow your dreams. I always wanted to be a flight attendant and wish I would have been but nursing has been a wonderful career for me.”

How did your view on life change after turning 40?

“My faith was tested repeatedly with the deaths of many family members, including 3 grandchildren and 2 other family members as babies. God has been with my family through all our trials and I would not have been able to cope had it not been for His love and Grace. We have a large loving family. I have come to realize that family and friends are the most important thing in life other than God and being faithful to Him.”

What is one of the most rewarding things about aging?

“Spending time with loved ones and practicing my faith.”

My new portrait project: This is Me, is accepting clients. This project is not age based, but is designed for women at all stages of their adult life to step into their highest self confidence. If you’re interested in learning more about the project, click here.
